Maruti Suzuki Delivers 45,000 Cars In One Day: Alto, Swift, Baleno And Other Models
In festive season related news, Maruti Suzuki delivered a total of 45,000 cars On Dhanteras. The tally includes the company's Alto, WagonR, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire models. Maruti Suzuki has set a new record for single day car deliveries.
Maruti Suzuki did much better than the rest of the top competition. Hyundai delivered about 12,500 cars, Mahindra delivered 13,500 vehicles, Kia delivered 2,138 units of Seltos, Mercedes delivered 600 cars, and MG delivered 700 units of the Hector.
In view of corporate tax cuts, Maruti Suzuki announced a reduction of Rs 5,000 across some of its products. This price cut has been in effect since 25t September, and is being offered on all variants of the Alto 800 & K10, and diesel variants of the Swift, the Celerio, the Baleno, Ignis, the Dzire & Dzire Tour S, the Vitara Brezza, and the S-Cross.
In addition to a this reduction of prices, the company is also running discounts of up to Rs.1.05 lakh on the Vitara Brezza, Rs 90,000 on the Dzire, and Rs 80,000 on the Swift models.
Also on offer are discounts of up to Rs.70,000 on the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, discounts of Rs 55,000 on the Eeco, and Rs 3,000 on the Omni.
It is too early to tell if the boost in sales during festive season will help the industry move toward positive growth or if sales will continue to drop after Diwali. While sales on Dhanteras indicate a sense of spending, it may not necessarily indicate the end of slowdown. Activity on the day is usually higher as most buyers want their vehicles delivered on Dhanteras (considered an auspicious day).
Auto manufacturers have reported an increase of between 5 percent and seven percent in sales during the 10 days leading up to Dhanteras. Maruti Suzuki dominates market share, even though sales are not what they once were.
Thoughts About The 45,000 Cars Delivered On Dhanteras
While that number is large, we're not very impressed by it. Maruti Suzuki has over 1,800 retail outlets across the country. That's an average of 25 vehicles delivered per outlet. Not such a massive number, is it? Having said that, kudos to Maruti Suzuki for having delivered 45,000 cars across a nation of over 1 billion people.
