Maruti Suzuki launched the S-Cross facelift model, back in 2017. At the time of the launch the company replaced the 1.6-litre diesel ‘DDiS 320' engine, with the smaller 1.3-litre ‘DDiS 200' mild-hybrid diesel power unit, featured on the current model. However, the company has confirmed that they will discontinue the 1.3-litre diesel engine from all the models, and will not carry forward to make it BS-VI compliant.

We expect the power figures of upcoming 1.6-litre diesel engine to remain the same after becoming BS-VI compliant. The larger capacity engine makes more power and torque, which will be ideal to use it on SUVs and MPVs from the company's line-up as well.

The 1.6-litre diesel engine achieving BS-VI compliance makes sense, as it could be used to power a wide variety of models in the company's line-up.
