Mahindra offers XUV500 in two engine variants. The 2.2 litre turbocharged petrol produces about 140hp and 320Nm of torque.

The turbocharged diesel engine produces 155hp and 360Nm of torque with a higher state of tune compared to the same engine that is being offered in Scorpio. These figures should see a negligible difference with the BS-VI variant.

We expect Mahindra to launch its BS-VI models in a quick succession starting from early 2020 before 1st April 2020 (deadline for compliance). They would fit the diesel variant with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) to control the emissions, which can see a slight increase in the pricing.

Thoughts On The Mahindra XUV500 BS-VI

The next-gen XUV500 will also make its way into the Ford line up thanks to the Mahindra - Ford cross manufacturing and likely to get the game back for Mahindra with the all-new design philosophy.

Being said the current XUV500 has still not lost its charm with that cheetah inspired bold shoulder line and that massive wheels making its presence felt on the road.
