Mahindra XUV300 Review [Video] - Brezza Killer?

The Mahindra XUV300 is offered with two turbocharged engine options — a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel — both of which are paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. 110bhp @ 5,000rpm and 200Nm of torque (best in the segment) between 2,000-3,500rpm. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, on the other hand, cranks out 115bhp @ 3,750rpm and 300 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,500rpm. The petrol engine has a claimed ARAI-tested mileage of 17km/l, while the diesel is rated at 20km/l. With a 42-litre fuel tank on offer, the claimed range of the new Mahindra XUV300 is a minimum of 714 kilometres.

In terms of size, the XUV300 measures in at just under 4 metres long at 3,995mm. This allows Mahindra to benefit from subsidies offered for cars under 4-metres long by the government. The XUV300 is 1,821mm wide and 1,617mm tall. The wheelbase of the XUV300 measures in at 2,600mm long, which means that there is quite a nice amount of legroom at the rear for passengers.

The Mahindra XUV300 also offers quite a few features especially in terms of safety which haven't been seen in the segment before. These include a maximum of 7 airbags (including one for the driver's knees) and disc brakes on all four wheels. Other features including Mahindra's Blue Sense app which appears on the 7-inch touchscreen. The app can be controlled using a smartwatch and can take care of other functions like the two-zone climate control setup (another first for the segment).

Other features include 3 different steering modes (first-in-segment again) along with a sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers, Hill-Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Program and front and rear parking sensors.
