The Mahindra XUV 300 has a seating capacity of five passengers. For its sub-four-metre dimension, the passengers get enough space on the inside. At 2.6 metres, the compact-SUV has the highest wheelbase in its segment which is dominated by the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.

Another interesting piece of information is that the XUV 300 will be followed by two new SUVs, co-developed with Ford. Yes, you heard it right — here's everything you need to know.

The XUV 300 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli five-seater SUV, but re-engineered to be an ideal choice for Indian driving conditions. The design of the Indian model is claimed to be 'Cheetah-inspired' like the bigger Mahindra XUV 500.

The exact specs of the Mahindra XUV 300 have not been revealed yet. However, sources suggest that it is powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine found in the Marazzo MPV. In the present format, it makes 121bhp and 320Nm of torque. The figures could be different on the XUV 300 so as to suit its character. A new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also rumoured to be in the plans.

Regarding features, LED DRLs, seven airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, dual-zone climate control; plus a lot of other equipment will be on offer. Being based on a global product, the interiors will feel nothing short of modern and premium (at least considering its segment).

The XUV 300 is the second re-badged Ssangyong product from Mahindra. The first one, the Mahindra Alturas G4, is based on the fourth-generation SsangYong Rexton. We have already driven it and you can read our detailed Mahindra Alturas G4 review here.

Thoughts On The New Mahindra XUV 300

The Mahindra XUV 300 seems to promise a lot as we mentioned at the very beginning. Currently, the sub-four-metre compact-SUV segment and the overall SUV sales chart are led by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The new XUV 300 will surely make a change to this in the coming months.
