Spy Pics: 2020 Mahindra Scorpio To Feature Drive Mode Selector And New Dashboard
The all new 2020 Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted testing, and spy pics reveal that the car will feature a drive mode selector. What remains unknown at the moment however, is how many drive modes the next-generation Scorpio will arrive with.
The spy pics taken by GaadiWaadi also reveal that the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will feature a new dashboard that is taller and has more volume as compared to the current-generation Scorpio. The new dashboard makes the SUV feel more premium.
A bigger dash means that Mahindra will be able to install a larger touchscreen infotainment system like the 9.0-inch one featured on the Alturas G4. There is the possibility that the company will offer the 9.0-inch infotainment system on top-spec models, and feature a smaller, 7.0-inch one on lower trims.
Older spy pics have also revealed that the all-new 2020 Scorpio will feature elements that are present on the Marazzo. Elements will include the steering wheel, the instrument cluster, the control stalks, and the gear lever. In addition to this, the circular chrome knob could be the drive mode selector.
Using elements that are already featured on other models will help the company reduce production costs for the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio, and will allow for competitive pricing. Mahindra says that the all new SUV will arrive with front-facing seats only, in order to comply with the new safety laws.
The all-new 2020 Scorpio also features a new ladder-frame chassis, and redesigned body panels. The SUV will have a longer wheelbase, which means it will have a larger, more spacious cabin. Mahindra may also offer more creature comforts as a result of the extra space.
The biggest change the company is making to the 2020 Scorpio is at the heart of the vehicle. The new SUV will feature a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel unit that could possibly produce 160bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Rumor has it that the engine will arrive with a six-speed manual transmission at launch, and an automatic may be introduced in the near future.
