Kia Seltos Waiting Period Reduced: Company Increases Production To Meet Demands
Kia Seltos waiting period is all set to reduce very soon. The company has announced the start of its second shift at their Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh. With the second shift now underway, the production capacity of the Kia Seltos has now increased to 15,000 units a month.
Kia Motor India has started the second shift by adding 1000 new employees at its production facility. The reason for the increase in production is due to the rising demand of the Seltos SUV in the Indian market.
According to recent reports, Kia has already received over 60,000 bookings for the Seltos in India. The Kia Seltos which was launched on the 22nd of August has quickly gone on to become one of the best-selling SUVs in the country, overtaking the likes of even its cousin, the Hyundai Creta.
The increase in production with the start of the second shift will also translate to a reduction in the waiting period and a rise in deliveries of the SUV. This will further attract more customers towards the SUV as well.
However, the main aim of starting the second shift by Kia is to check the readiness of the third shift. The company has already announced its second and third products for the Indian market: Carnival MPV and a brand-new sub-4 metre SUV.
With the arrival of both these products in the Indian market, Kia is looking at increasing its production capacity at Anantapur to 4 lakh units per annum. Currently, the brand has a capacity of 3 lakh units.
The Kia Carnival is scheduled to go on sale in India by January 2020. The new sub-4 metre SUV, on the other hand, will come a bit later; sometime in July 2020. Even before the launch of the Seltos, Kia had announced the launch of a new product at an interval of every six months in India for the next three years.
The Kia Seltos, Carnival and the sub-4 metre SUV are all part of the same plan. However, reports also suggest, that looking at the success of the Seltos, Kia is working on fast-forwarding the arrival of the new sub-4 metre SUV by a couple of months.
Manohar Bhat, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia Motor India, told ET Auto,
"Ramping up production is a complicated process as it involves various external elements like vendors and reorganizing the domestic and international supply chain, etc. We have increased the pace of deliveries. India has shown tremendous potential and acceptance for us."
Thoughts On The Kia Seltos Waiting Period Reduction And Production Increase
With waiting period for the Kia Seltos set to reduce soon, the SUV is set to attract more customers in the market. This will in-turn improve its sales in the coming months as well. It will be interesting to see how the sales of the SUV fluctuate compared to its rivals in the coming months.
