Kia Seltos Variants Explained: Which Is The Best Model To Buy?
Kia Motors have launched their first product in the Indian market, in the form of the Seltos SUV. The Kia Seltos is available in two main variants: Tech-Line and GT-Line. The base-spec variant of the Kia Seltos comes with a price tag of Rs 9.69 lakh while the top-spec variant is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (India) — here are the details from the launch.
The Kia Seltos variants, namely the Tech-Line and GT-Line are further broken down into multiple sub-variants. This is based on their engine specification, gearbox and features.
Starting with the Kia Seltos Tech-Line, this trim consists of five variants and the higher GT-Line trim is offered in three variants.

Kia Seltos GT-Line:
Now, here is where it gets confusing. Kia Seltos is said to have a total of 16 variants. This includes five from the Tech-line which are available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The GT-Line is offered with three variants each with the turbo-petrol engine. In addition to this, the Kia Seltos top-spec variant - GTX+, is available with both the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel as well.
The Seltos Tech-Line come with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol unit produces 113bhp and 144Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Both these engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox. With the petrol getting the optional IVT and the diesel receiving the optional 6AT automatic gearbox choices.
The Seltos GT-Line comes powered by a 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol engine. It produces 140bhp and 242Nm of torque and is mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. The top-spec GTX+ carries forward the same 1.5-litre diesel as on the Tech-Line.

Kia Seltos Tech-Line HTE (Rs 9.69 Lakh - Rs 9.99 Lakh)
The HTE variant of the Kia Seltos is available in both 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. However, both engines are mated to just the six-speed manual gearbox.
Kia Seltos Tech-Line HTK (Rs 9.99 Lakh - Rs 11.19 Lakh)
(In addition to the HTE)
Again, similar to the HTE, the HTK variant of the Kia Seltos is also available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Both come mated to the standard six-speed manual gearbox.
Kia Seltos Tech-Line HTK+ (Rs 11.19 Lakh - Rs 13.19 Lakh)

The Kia Seltos HTK+ comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel engine on the HTK+ also receives the six-speed AT gearbox.
Kia Seltos Tech-Line HTX (Rs 12.79 Lakh - Rs 13.79 Lakh)

The petrol and diesel options on the HTX variant of the Kia Seltos comes with the standard six-speed manual. The petrol receives additional IVT automatic transmission as an option as well.
Kia Seltos Tech-Line HTX+ (Rs 14.99 Lakh - Rs 15.99 Lakh)

This variant is available with just the diesel engine option. However, it does come with the option of either a manual or an automatic transmission system.
Kia Seltos GT-Line GTK ( Rs 13.49 Lakh)
This variant of the Kia Seltos GT Line comes with the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine option. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox.
Kia Seltos GT-Line GTX ( Rs 14.9 Lakh - Rs 15.99 Lakh)
(In addition to the GTK)
This variant of the Kia Seltos is also available with the single petrol engine option. However, this does come with the optional 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Kia Seltos GT-Line GTX+ ( Rs 15.99 Lakh)

This is the top-spec variant of the Kia Seltos, receiving all the bells and whistles. This variant comes with the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engine option. The petrol receives the optional 7-Speed DCT while the diesel comes with the standard six-speed manual transmission unit.
Thoughts On The Kia Seltos Variants & Features
The Kia Seltos has taken the Indian market by storm with the SUV with a starting price under the Rs 10 lakh bracket. All the variants on the Kia Seltos come loaded with features and equipment, making it a very attractive package. However, the top-spec GTX+ with the 1.4-litre turbo petrol with the seven-speed DCT is the variant to go for, if you are looking for the complete experience.
