Kia Seltos will be available in two basic trims: Tech-Line and GT-Line. These two trims will further comprise of three variants each. The Tech-Line will be offered with HTX, HTK and HTE; similarly the GT-Line will be offered with GTX, GTK and GTE.

Each of the six variants will come with a host of features, connectivity tech and safety equipment. Some of the key features available on the Kia Seltos include LED lighting all around. This comes in the form of Crown Jewel LED headlamps, Heartbeat LED DRLs, sweeping LED light bar extending over the signature tiger grille up front, heartbeat LED tail lights and ice cube LED fog lamps.

Other features also include ambient mood lighting, LED sound mood lighting, smart key with push-button start, fully-automatic air conditioner, electric sunroof, Smart Pure Air purifier with perfume diffuser, 10.25 HD touchscreen infotainment system, 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-way driver power seats, BOSE premium 8-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats and 60:40 rear split seats.

Apart from these, the GT-Line also comes with sporty red brake calipers, red centre cap on the 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, red inserts below the front air intake and lower part of the doors, sporty alloy pedals, smart 8.0-inch heads-up display, 360-degree camera with a surround view monitor and auto cruise control.

In terms of safety features, both trims offer dual airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera, high-speed warning system, seat-belt reminder and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The GT-Line further comes with side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, vehicle stability management, blind-view monitor front parking sensors, multi drive modes and multi traction control modes as well.

Connectivity Features

This is probably one of the most important features on the Kia Seltos. The SUV comes with what Kia calls ‘UVO Connectivity' technology. This is available on both trims and is similar in a way to Hyundai's ‘Blue-Link' technology.

The UVO Connectivity technology comes with 33 additional functionalities. This includes remote engine start-stop, AC control, live traffic information, SOS emergency assistance, panic notification, live car tracking, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilisation.

The UVO connect also offers customers features such as geofencing, vehicle health reports and other maintenance alerts as well. Kia will offer the UVO connect on the Seltos with a three-year free subscription plan.

Specifications

The Kia Seltos will be offered with three engine options. This includes a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options and a more powerful 1.4-litre turbo-petrol as well. All three engines on the Seltos are BS-VI compliant from the start and have been developed by Hyundai's ‘SmartStream' technology.

The 1.5-litre petrol produces 115bhp and 144Nm of torque. It will be mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox and will get an optional CVT automatic transmission as well. The 1.5-litre diesel churns out 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. This will also receive the standard six-speed manual gearbox while having a six-speed AT as optional.

The third engine comes in the form of a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol GDi engine. It produces 140bhp and 242Nm of torque. This engine will either come mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) — here is the top-speed, acceleration and other performance figures about the upcoming Kia Seltos.

Colours

To make the Seltos SUV more attractive, Kia will offer the SUV in a wide range of colour/external paint schemes. It will be offered in both single and dual-tone options from the start.

The single-tone paint schemes available on the Kia Seltos: Red, Orange, Glacier White, Clear White, Grey, Silver, Blue and Black. Similarly, the dual-tone options on the Kia Seltos include Red/Black, Glacier White/Black, Silver/Black and Glacier White/Orange.

Pricing & Rivals

Prices for the Kia Seltos will be announced at the time of launch on the 22nd of August. However, being manufactured in India, we can expect the Seltos to be priced highly competitively in the market; somewhere in the range of RS 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom.

Once launched in India, the Kia Seltos will rival the likes other offerings in the mid-size SUV segment, including the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and the MG Hector.

Bookings & Delivery

Kia Motors has already begun accepting bookings for the Seltos SUV in India. The company recorded an overwhelming response in the market, registering over 6,000 bookings within the first day.

The Kia Seltos has already started arriving in dealerships across the country. According to dealers, deliveries of the Seltos will begin shortly after the launch of the SUV; sometime during the first week of September.
