The launch timeline was revealed by Mr Manohar Bhatt, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India, in an interview with the ET auto. The Kia Carnival MPV has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian streets ahead of its expected launch.
With the Carnival MPV, Kia Motors is looking to compete against the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta and the MPV segment's best-seller, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Carnival MPV is 5155mm in length, 1985mm in width and 1740mm in height; with a wheelbase of 3,060mm.
This makes it 380mm longer, 155mm wider and 55mm shorter than its main rival, the Innova Crysta. The wheelbase of the Carnival is also 310mm longer to the Toyota Innova Crysta, which measures out at 2750mm.

The Carnival MPV will also feature powered-sliding doors at the back for easy access of the third row.
The Kia Carnival is available in multiple seating configurations globally. However, India market is expected to receive either a seven or eight seater version of the MPV. The Interiors of the Carnival is expected to be packed with features offering all creature-comforts as well.
The interior features expected on the Carnival: ventilated and heated seats, three zone climate control, and a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also expected to feature the same UVO internet connectivity which is present in the Kia Seltos SUV to control the car through a smartphone application.
The safety equipment would include a 360 degree camera with a blind spot monitoring, traction control, hillside assist, dusk-sensing headlamps, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, etc.
The India-bound Carnival MPV is expected to be powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 199bhp of power and 440Nm of torque. The diesel engine will be made BS-VI complaint as the launch will happen closer to the new emission norms deadline on April 1, 2020.
The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The globally-sold Carnival MPV is also offered with a 3.3-litre petrol engine producing 203bhp of power and 330Nm torque. However, we do not expect Kia to bring in the larger-spec model to India anytime soon.
Kia Motors also plans to import five new cars to the Indian market. The list includes two EVs (Soul & Niro) along with the Telluride, Sorento and their flagship sedan, the Stinger — here are all the details.
