Jeep Compass Trailhawk India Launch Details Revealed — Long Wait Is Nearly Over

Talk of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk arriving in India has been going on since last year with many reports first suggesting that it could arrive in either January or February. However, after multiple delays, Jeep looks finally set to launch the more off-roading oriented version of the Compass before July comes to a close.

The Trailhawk differs from other versions of the Compass due to the changes done to its mechanical parts and extra features that allow it to clamber over ruts and rocks with ease.

The mechanical changes can be plainly seen if you look at the Trailhawk closely. The Trailhawk's ground clearance is 20mm more than that of regular Compass models at 225mm. The air intake on the Trailhawk is at a higher position compared to its regular road-focused siblings, which allows the upcoming SUV to wade 75mm deeper into water compared to the Compass currently on sale in India. The Trailhawk can wade into water as deep as 480mm. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk also comes packed with features to help it tackle rough terrain. These features include a low range gearbox, a locking diff at the rear, and hill descent control. The selec-terrain system fitted to the Compass Trailhawk also features a new driving mode — Rock.

Other changes include new front and rear bumpers, tow hooks painted in red, all-weather tyres, underbody skid plates on both the front and rear end. There is also a large black decal on the bonnet of the SUV, all weather floor mats on the inside and a Trail Rated badge on the front fender.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be powered by FCA's 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that cranks out 171bhp at 3,750rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The Trailhawk will also be the first Jeep Compass model to be fitted with the 9-speed automatic gearbox in India.
