Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Launch Details Revealed — Will Get Smaller Engine
Japanese carmaker Isuzu is currently working on bringing the updated D-Max V-Cross pickup truck to India. Now a new report by Autocar India has revealed that the launch of the BS-VI complaint Isuzu V-Cross could happen in either late May or Early June 2019.
Dealers have told the publication that the new 2019 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will be more expensive than the current model. The dealers expect the new automatic variant of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross pickup truck to be around Rs 2.5 lakh more expensive than the current model which is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and starts at Rs 15.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2019 model of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will sport a brand new 6-speed manual gearbox, and the automatic transmission is also expected to be a 6-speed unit.
Another big change that will arrive with the new Isuzu V-Cross will be found under the bonnet of the pickup truck. The new V-Cross for India will come to the sub-continent with a downsized engine which is around 600cc smaller than the current 2.5-litre powerplant on the current truck.
The new 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine kicks out 162bhp at 3,600rpm and 360Nm of torque between 2,000 and 2,500rpm. The new engine's output is 28bhp and 40Nm more than what the current 2.5-litre produces. The India-spec D-Max V-Cross is expected to feature four-wheel-drive as standard equipment.
The new Isuzu V-Cross will also feature a facelifted design with new projector headlamps along with a revised grille. The front and rear bumpers will be updated as well for the facelifted pickup truck which will also sport new tail lights.
Inside, the changes are more noticeable. These changes, spied on test vehicles for the facelifted model, include a new brown and black dual-tone interior theme, piano black trim pieces on the centre console, dashboard and doors (instead of the current truck's chrome). The seats and the steering wheel will be wrapped in leather.
Also updated for the facelifted V-Cross from Isuzu is the infotainment display. The improved infotainment system will now feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard connectivity options.
