Hyundai Venue — Top Things To Know About Hyundai’s First Compact-SUV In India
Hyundai India recently launched the Venue SUV in the Indian market. This is Hyundai's first sub-four metre compact-SUV offering in the market and is offered with starting price of Rs 6.50 lakh ex-showroom (India).
The Hyundai Venue is positioned between the Elite i20 and the Creta in the brand's India lineup. It will take on stiff competition from the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon in the Indian market.
With that said, here are some of the top things to know about the Hyundai Venue!
Power & Torque
The Hyundai Venue is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. This includes two petrol engines and one diesel unit. The base petrol variant comes in the form of the 1.2-litre petrol unit, borrowed from the Elite i20 hatchback. It produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The 1.4-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, has been borrowed from the Creta; producing 89bhp and 220Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Hyundai also offers the Venue with a smaller yet more powerful petrol engine. This is in the form of a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit churning out 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. It comes with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, along with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic as well.
Top-Speed & Acceleration
Hyundai is yet to officially announce the performance figures of the new Venue. However, based on the engine specifications on offer, along with the weight, dimensions and the performance of its competitors, we have made some assumptions.
The top-spec Hyundai Venue with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol should be able to reach a top-speed of around 160km/h. The other petrol and diesel options on offer should be easily able to pull the compact-SUV up to around 150km/h.
In terms of acceleration, the Hyundai Venue should be able to sprint to 100km/h from idle in around 11 seconds. The base petrol could take a bit longer, due to the lower power output and torque availability.
Again, these figures are just assumptions at this time. We will share the exact figures, once we get our hands on the Venue SUV soon.
Mileage & Fuel Tank Capacity
The Hyundai Venue comes with a claimed fuel efficiency figures of 18.27km/l for the turbo-petrol manual variant and 18.15km/l for the turbo-petrol automatic. The 1.2-litre petrol claims a mileage of 17.52km/l while the diesel is said to offer 23.70km/l.
The Hyundai Venue is offered with a fuel tank capacity of 45-litres, providing a maximum range of an impressive 1,066 km on a single tank.
Seating Capacity & Boot Space
The Hyundai Venue is strictly a five-seater compact-SUV. Upright and boxy SUV-stance of the Hyundai Venue offers good knee room and headroom for all five passengers. Hyundai Venue also comes with a 350-litre boot, which can be further extended on the top-spec variant with the 60:40 split rear seat option.
Overall Dimensions & Turning Radius
Being a sub-four metre compact-SUV, the dimensions of the Hyundai Venue is almost similar to that of its competition in the segment. Here are the dimensions of the Hyundai Venue:
- Length: 3995mm
- Width: 1770mm
- Height: 1605mm
- Wheelbase: 2500mm
These dimensions of the Hyundai Venue give it a decent turning radius of around 5.4 metres.
Ground Clearance & Tyre Size
At 190mm of ground clearance, the Hyundai Venue does well to avoid most of the undulations on the terrain without compromising too much on the driving dynamics.
The base 'E' and 'S' variants of the Hyundai Venue come with 15-inch wheels with full wheel covers and 195/65 tyre profiles. The two top-spec variants however feature 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with 215/60 tyre profiles.
Colours
The Hyundai Venue is available in a range of seven colour options: Fiery Red, Denim Blue, Stardust Grey, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Lava Orange and Deep Forest. It is also offered with three dual-tone paint schemes including Denim Blue/Polar White & Polar White/Phantom Black and Lava Orange/Phantom Black.
Thoughts On The Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue has all the right ingredients to offer some serious competition to the current segment leader, the Maruti Vitara Brezza. It has also been priced highly competitively while offering all the bells and whistles, further making it a more attractive package. We will know in a few months time, how the Hyundai Venue stacks up against its competitors in the segment.
