Hyundai Venue Unveiled — India Launch Next Month

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has unveiled the Venue compact SUV at the New York Auto Show and in India. The Hyundai Venue is India's first ever connected SUV and will be launched in the sub-continent next month.

The Hyundai Venue is the Korean carmaker's first venture into the world of sub-4-metre compact SUVs. The all-new Hyundai Venue will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. However, it differs from its rivals due to the fact that it is aconnected SUV, which merans that it can communicate with its driver's and allow for smart features like geo fencing, AI voice recognition among 33 connectivity features in total, 10 of which are only for India.

In terms of design, the Hyundai Venue follows the South Korean marque's latest design language but mixes it with a few styling features seen in the Carlino concept from 2016 which was the genesis of this new SUV. Hyundai's trademark cascade grille dominates the front fascia of the new Venue SUV. Flanking the the top section of the grille on either side are sleek LED lights with the turn signals. Underneath the LED lights in a square-shaped section sit the headlamps lights. The headlamps are framed by the square daytime running LED lights. Further down, on the front bumper sit the fog lamps.

When viewed from the side, the new Venue's sillouhette reminds you of the current Creta. The pumped up wheelarches add to the muscular look of the SUV while the option for a contrasting roof looks quite cool. The roof also sports the powered sun roof.

At the rear, the Hyundai Venue features square-shaped tail lights which feature arather distinct lighting pattern. The bootlid features the Hyundai badge and the word 'VENUE' spelt out underneath it.

Inside, the Hyundai Venue features a large 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display which features Android Auto and Apple Car Play as standard along with Hyundai's Bluelink connected car tech, which allows for the smart features mentioned earlier.

Underneath the bonnet of the Hyundai Venue will be three engine options. The standard petrol variant will draw power from a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that cranks out 82bhp and 115Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The lone diesel engine is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder unit that kicks out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed manual. The most powerful engine of the lot is the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that pushes out 118bhp and 172Nm of torque comes paired to either a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual.

The all-new Hyundai Venue will launch in India on the 23rd of May and some dealers have already started taking bookings for the SUV.
