The Hyundai Venue will be the first-ever compact SUV from the Korean carmaker. The new Hyundai Venue is the final production version of the Carlino SUV concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2016. The Venue from Hyundai will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the recently launched Mahindra XUV300.

The new Hyundai Venue is expected to be on the premium side of the sub-4-metre compact SUV segment in India and prices are expected to start at around the Rs 8 lakh+ (ex-showroom) mark.

Images of the Hyundai which were leaked onto the interwebs earlier this week showed us what the production-spec Venue will look like when it hits the roads. Up front, Hyundai's trademark cascade grille is flanked on either side by a split headlamp setup that has become the in-thing in terms of style for cars and SUVs. The cascade grille features quite a lot of chrome, which should appeal to the Indian car buyer.

The top-spec Venue sits on large alloy wheels which are identical in terms of design to the ones fitted to the 2019 Creta. The rear end of the Venue looks quite similar to the Carlino's hind quarters with the square taillamps and the steeply raked rear windscreen on the tailgate.

Under the bonnet, the new Hyundai Venue will be offered with three engine options - two petrol (1.0-litre turbo and 1.4-litre) and a lone diesel (1.4-litres). While the 11.4-litre petrol and diesel engines are borrowed from other vehicles in Hyundai's India lineup, the Venue will debut a brand new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will be paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Venue features a large touchscreen infotainment display that plays host to the connected features technology that Hyundai calls Bluelink. Bluelink will be powered by an e-sim from Vodafone and will allow for features like geo-fencing, stolen vehicle tracking, speed alerts, SOS, and roadside assistance among many others. The Hyundai Venue will also feature an AI-powered voice recognition & guidance system that works with and understands accented English from India.
