Hyundai Discontinues Grand i10 Era & Asta Models: Dealers Say Sportz Discontinued Too
Hyundai Motor India has shuffled its offering under the Grand i10 family, and has shut production of the base variant Era, and the top-of the line Asta models. In addition, the company has discontinued the petrol automatic, and the 1.2-litre diesel offering.
The Grand i10 is said to be available in petrol and CNG variants that feature a five-speed manual transmission only. Some dealers say that the Grand i10 is available in Magna and Sportz trims only, with a lower-spec variant dedicated to CNG.
Dealers from Pune, Mumbai, and Delhi however, say that that all production of the Grand i10 family have been put to an end. Dealers from Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bangalore say that only the Magna variant will be available going forward.
The petrol-powered variant of the 1.2-litre Kappa engine produces 81bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, while the CNG powered variant of the Hyundai Grandi10 produces 64bhp of power and 98Nm of torque.
The 1.2-litre diesel engine that was once available available on Grand i10 is exclusively available with the Hyundai i10 Nios. This engine produces 73bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. The Nios diesel variant is available with a five-speed manual and an AMT transmission as well.
In addition to putting a stop to production of the Hyundai Grand i10, the company has also reduced the color options that will be available. The vehicle will be available in four colour options only - Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, and Polar White. The Marina Blue and the Flame Orange options have been discontinued.
Hyundai had announced earlier that it would discontinue select variants of the Grand i10 in order to concentrate on sales of the Grand i10 Nios. This could mean an eventual end to the Grand i10 family.
Thoughts About The Reduction In Available Variants Of The Grand i10
This was bound to happen. The Nios was designed to replace the i10, and the company is facilitating exactly that. We expect sales of the Magna variant to decline as well, and expect that the model will be phased out soon.
