Hyundai Creta Base Variants Launched With 1.6-Litre Diesel Engine: Prices Start At Rs 10.87 Lakh
Hyundai Motors India has silently launched the larger 1.6-litre diesel engine option on the two E+ and EX base variants of the Creta SUV. The two lower-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta are now priced at Rs 10.87 lakh and Rs 11.90 lakh, respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
The two base variants of the Hyundai Creta were previously available with just the 1.4-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine options. Hyundai has now added the 1.6-litre diesel engine on the E+ and EX variants as well.
The 1.6-litre diesel engine option from Hyundai Creta churns out 126bhp at 4000rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1500 - 3000rpm. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, without the option of an automatic transmission.
Apart from the addition of the larger diesel engine, no other changes are made on the two lower-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta. The E+ and EX variants continue to carry forward the same features and equipment list as before.
This includes body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, steel wheels, dual-tone bumpers with silver skid plates and black/silver front grille. Other exterior features on the two variants also include follow-me-home headlamps, electrically-adjustable ORVMs with integrated LED turn signals.
Inside, the lower-spec Hyundai Creta variants come with air conditioning, front central armrest, height-adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, tilt function for the steering wheel and and electric tailgate release.
The EX trim additionally offers rear central armrest, LED DRLs, front USB chargers, sunglass holders, adjustable front and rear headrests, 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, Hyundai's i-Blue remote app and a multi-function steering wheel as well.
Safety features on the Hyundai Creta E+ and EX variants: dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, day/night IRVM, front seatbelt pretensioners, high-speed warning and seat-belt reminder.
Thoughts On The Hyundai Creta Base Variants With 1.6-Litre Diesel Engine
The Hyundai Creta is one of the best-selling SUVs in the segment. The Creta SUV was launched in India a couple of years ago and since then has remained unbeaten in the segment. However, with newer rivals entering the market, such as the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector, sales of the Creta has fallen. Hyundai is addressing this by introducing a brand new model in India at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo.
