Hyundai Aura Engine Specifications Revealed: India Launch Expected Soon
Hyundai India has announced the engine specifications and transmission details of its upcoming Aura sedan. The upcoming Hyundai Aura once launched in India will become the first sedan from the brand to feature a BS-VI compliant engine.
As per the statement from Hyundai, the Aura will come with three engine options. This includes 1.2-litre petrol borrowed from the Elite i20, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol from the Venue and a 1.4-litre diesel engine from the Creta. All three engines will be compliant with the latest emission norms from the start.
All three engines will produce the same power and torque figures as on the Hyundai Venue. To reiterate, the 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 83bhp and 114Nm of torque while the 1.4-litre diesel churns out 90bhp and 220Nm of torque. The smaller 1.0-litre turbo petrol produces 120bhp and 172Nm of peak torque.
All three engines on the Hyundai Aura come mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox. While the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine options receive the optional AMT automatic gearbox as well. Unlike the Hyundai Venue, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine on the Aura misses out on an automatic transmission.
The new powertrain on the Hyundai Aura is said to offer low vibrations and high fuel efficiency with cleaner emissions and improved performance. The Aura also comes with what Hyundai calls 'Advanced After Treatment System', allowing the sedan to meet the highest emission standards.
Hyundai recently announced the 'Aura' name for their upcoming sedan earlier this month. The new Hyundai Aura is expected to replace the Xcent compact-sedan in their lineup. However, Hyundai could also introduce it as a separate model, to be sold alongside the Xcent; similar to the Grand i10 and the NIOS.
Thoughts On The Hyundai Aura Specifications & Transmission Details
The Hyundai Aura once launched in India could replace the Xcent sedan, which has been on sale for quite a while now. The new compact-sedan has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and will feature a design similar to the NIOS. Hyundai is yet to announce a launch date for the Aura, although we expect it to happen in the coming couple of months.
