Honda Cars India To Hike Prices Of All Its Models By Up To Rs 10,000
Honda Cars India will be increasing prices of all its models, starting from 1st February. All models will face a price hike of up to Rs 10,000.
Honda Cars India will be increasing prices of all its models in the country. The price hike will come into effect from the 1st February and will see an increase of up to Rs 10,000. The main reason for the hike in prices as reported by Honda Cars India is the poor foreign exchange rates and increasing commodity prices.
The recently launched Honda CR-V SUV launched back in October 2018 will face a price hike of Rs 10,000. All other models in the company's India profile will face a hike of Rs 7,000, this includes the Brio, Jazz, Amaze, BR-V, City and the Accord Hybrid sedan.
The Japanese brand recently reshuffled the variant lineup of their mid-size sedan offering, the City. The company has introduced a manual transmission on their top-spec 'XZ' City sedan variant before discontinuing its base-spec 'S'variant. The top-spec variant is now priced at Rs 12.75 lakh while the new base variant 'SV' comes at a price of Rs 9.75 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
Apart from the variant reshuffle, Honda has also increased two new colour options on the City sedan — Radiant Red Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic. Both these new colours are available across all variants of the mid-size sedan.
Honda also showcased their tenth-generation Civic sedan at the 2018 Auto Expo. Honda has confirmed that they will bring back the Civic nameplate in the country. The new 2019 Honda Civic will be launched in India in mid-2019.
The flagship Honda Accord Hybrid also receives a price hike of Rs 7,000. The current-generation Accord hybrid was first showcased in 2016 and had a starting price of Rs 37 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The sedan came with a completely revamped design and was imported into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) kit. However, recent reports suggest that Honda failed to sell even a single unit of the Accord Hybrid in 2018. The Honda Accord Hybrid rivals the likes of the Skoda Superb and the recently launched 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
