Honda Amaze VX Launched — Top Of The Line Model Features Automatic Transmission

Honda has launched the VX trim for the petrol-CVT and the diesel-CVT Amaze models. The top of the line variants have been priced at Rs 8.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. The prices are Rs 41,000 more than the V trim versions of each of the variants.

Amaze VX

According to Auto Car India, the second generation Honda Amaze has done exceptionally well since its launch in May 2018. It has sold over 85,000 units in FY2019, and catering for 46 per cent of Honda's India sales figures over the period. What's helped sales is the four engine-gearbox options on offer - petrol and diesel engines, each available with manual and Constant Variable Transmission gearboxes - Honda has an Amaze for each type of compact sedan buyer.

The new automatic variants of the Honda Amaze feature Honda's Digipad 2.0; 7-inch touch screen system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, on-board navigation, and an additional USB port. Other upgrades include a rear view mirror with guidelines, steering mounted voice controls switches, and an anti-pinch for the driver's side window.

The new features are in addition to all features offered on the V trim. The V trim already features keyless-go, auto climate control and power windows. Paddle-shifters are only available on the petrol-CVT variant. Also, none of the Amaze models feature rear air-conditioning vents or LED headlights -features that are available on the range-topping versions of the segment-leading Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

There are no changes to the mechanics of the vehicles. The Honda Amaze petrol variants feature a 1.2-litre engine that produces 89bhp and 110Nm of torque, and the diesel variants feature a 1.5-litre i-DTEC (Intelligent Diesel Technology Electronic Control) engine that produces 99bhp, and 200Nm of torque.

Prices for the Honda Amaze (petrol and diesel variants) range from Rs 5.86 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 9.16 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The vehicle is available in five colour options - Radiant Red, White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Modern Steel Metallic.

Thoughts About the New Honda Amaze VX Variant

The Amaze is a fairly good car and the new VX variant may give some a 'premium' buying feel. With no changes to the engine and performance, Honda is banking on smaller changes to make a difference.
