Since the incident took place, the Rally has been called off. State officials stated that the race was apparently held without proper permission. This has resulted in the Rajasthan government ordering an inquiry into the incident which took place on Saturday.
A state government release stated that no permission was granted for the event to take place. It further added that there were no proper security measures taken as well. A police official stated that an FIR has been filed in connection with the accident. The FIR has been registered against Gaurav Gill and his navigator under section 304 of IPC. It also contains the names of Maxperience, Mahindra, JK Tyres, MRF Tyres and the FMSCI.
The victims of the incident have been identified as Narendra Kumar, his wife Pushpa Devi and their son Jitendra. Angry villagers did not allow the body of the deceased to be shifted from the accident site, insisting the arrest of the people involved. Family members and other villagers also demand compensation and a government job to a kin.
Police officials have stated that the bodies have, however, been shifted for postmortem, while discussion for compensation is underway.
