Ford Recalls The Endeavour SUV In India — Voluntary Inspection Of Faulty Airbag Inflators

Ford India has recalled the old-generation Endeavour SUV in the country. The old-generation Ford Endeavour has been recalled in India for a voluntary inspection of its airbag inflator system.

Ford has released a statement stating, "it is voluntarily inspecting front airbag inflators on previous-generation Ford Endeavour vehicles, made at the company's Chennai plant between February 2004 and September 2014."

Ford introduced the new Endeavour SUV earlier this year. The new Ford Endeavour is offered with a host of new updates, both in terms of design and mechanicals. The new Ford Endeavour is offered with a starting price of Rs 28.17 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). This is actually lower than the old-generation model, which had prices starting at around Rs 30 lakh.

The new Ford Endeavour is now also available in just two variants: Titanium and Titanium+, with the previously available ‘Trend' now discontinued. The new Endeavour is offered with either a 158bhp 2.2-litre diesel or a larger 197bhp 3.2-litre diesel unit. Both engines come mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission units.

Apart from the old-generation Ford Endeavour SUVs, the company is also carrying out an inspection on other models as well. This includes the Freestyle and the latest generation Figo and Aspire models.

These models are being checked for any faults in the wiring harness installations of the Battery Monitoring System (BMS). Ford is inspecting all the above models, which have been manufactured at its Sanand plant between September 2017 and April 2019.

Ford has also announced an investment of $1 billion USD for the Indian market. This investment will see the American brand introduce three new SUVs in the coming years: two on its own and one in partnership with Mahindra. The investment will also see Ford restructure its plans for the Indian market, while also making India a main operating base as well.

Ford currently offers a number of products in the Indian market, this includes the Figo, Aspire, Freestyle, EcoSport, Endeavour and the Mustang.
