Ford EcoSport Variants List Gets Shuffled —Titanium+ Variant Loses Out On Several Features
The Ford EcoSport variant line-up is going through a major shuffle and we will get to know the prices within just a few days when Ford officially reveals them. After Ford updated the EcoSport line-up in March last year, this is the first major update it is going through.
As part of this update however, Ford is not adding new features to all variants but is in-fact reducing the number of features on a few variants. The Titanium and Titanium+ variants are set to lose quite a lot of features.
The Titanium variant for instance will lose the sunglass holder and the centre armrest for passengers at the rear. The all-black theme on the current model will give way to a beige interior theme.
However, it will continue to be available with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines mated to a manual transmission. Major changes will be seen on the Titanium+ variant as it is set to lose several features.
The black-coloured leather interiors will be replaced by beige-coloured fabric interiors. It will no longer feature Ford's SYNC3 connected infotainment system and that just means it has lost Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The SYNC3 system will be replaced by a 9.0-inch FlyAudio infotainment system. It will also lose out on cruise control. Good news is that there is no tampering with the safety features and it still comes with the same number of airbags. It will now come with a sunroof and new decals on the sides of the car.
Ford will also launch a new variant called the Thunder which will sit above the Titanium+ variant and this will feature the same FlyAudio infotainment system, dual-tone leather interior, black-coloured roof and black decals on the bonnet.
It is unclear at the moment if Ford will launch a new top-spec variant or the EcoSport S will continue to be the top-spec EcoSport one can buy in India. The Ford EcoSport will continue to be sold with one diesel and two petrol engine options.
The sole diesel engine on offer is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit with a maximum power output of 99bhp and a peak torque output of 205Nm. The Ford EcoSport is also available with a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a maximum power output of 121bhp and a peak torque output of 150Nm.
Ford also sells the EcoSport with its award-winning EcoBoost engine. It is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with a maximum power output of 123bhp and a peak torque output of 170Nm.
Thoughts On Ford EcoSport Line-Up Being Refreshed In India
The shuffle in the Ford EcoSport line-up seems to have come out of an increase in the competition, especially with Hyundai launching the Venue at a lower price. Ford has always given its customers good cars that are built well and have good value-for-money. Well, whatever may be the outcome, one thing is for sure - the Ford EcoSport is going to get cheaper than it currently is.
