2020 Force Gurkha Spied Testing: Will Feature A BS-VI Engine
Force Gurkha 2020 version spotted testing ahead of its launch next year. The spy pics from Rushlane reveal the completely camouflaged mule actively testing ahead of its expected showcase at 2020 Auto Expo.
The engine on the next-generation Gurkha will be made BS-VI compliant to suit the new emission norms, which are to be effective from April 1st, 2020. We also expect the new-generation Gurkha to have few design revisions.
Force Motors have added a few revisions to Gurkha over the years. However, the off-roader is need of a major overhaul, at least the interiors to make it look plush.
Force Motors has added a new variant to the Gurkha's line-up last year. Called the Gurkha Xtreme, featured a much-needed engine overhaul to the SUV. The off-road SUV was powered by a 2.2-litre, inline four-cylinder diesel engine producing 140bhp and 321Nm of torque. The engine used in the Gurkha Xtreme variant is sourced from Mercedes.
The approach and departure angles of the SUV are upwards of 40 degrees making it easy for taking the extreme off-road terrains. Also, the maximum torque coming in at 1600 to 2400 rpm makes tackling the rough terrain easy.
The company will look to discontinue the 85bhp diesel engine offered on the lower variants of the Gurkha. However, it will be made BS-VI compliant too as it is being shared among other models in the company's line-up, including the Trax range.
Last update on the Gurkha saw it featuring an ABS, seat belt reminder alarms, over-speed warning alarms, and rear parking sensors. However, it did not comply with the upcoming crash test norms, effective from October 2019. The new-gen Gurkha will go through manufacturing changes to comply with the new crash test norms. The new-gen off-road SUV will be more rigid making for a strong impact resistant shell.
Interior of the new-gen Gurkha model will be revised to make it look premium to attract a wider audience. The outgoing model of the off-roader features a functional yet dated interiors, and in need of a major overhaul.
Apart from that, the Gurkha looks equipped to take on any terrain or surface, with factory-fitted snorkel, luggage rack, locking differentials, and much more. No wonder the Gurkha has had much success at the Rain Forest Challenge (RFC), with best team award to the going to the company in 2016 edition of the RFC.
Thoughts About The 2020 Force Gurkha
We hope the new-gen Gurkha to feature an all-new cabin to make it look more upmarket. The new-gen off-roader will take on its only rival in the segment, The Mahindra Thar. However, Mahindra is also working on a 2020 version of the Thar, which will be bigger than the outgoing model. Both companies will look to launch the updated versions of their off-road SUVs. We sure are excited to see when the new version will lock horns with each other.
