Spy Pics: BMW X7 Spotted Ahead Of Launch
German carmaker BMW introduced the X7 — its largest SUV ever — to the world last year in November. The German luxury carmaker had showcased the diesel variant of the X7 in February at the annual India Art Fair. Now, the petrol powered X7 has been spied totally undisguised by instagrammer and car spotter premster14.
The gargantuan BMW X7 SUV was spotted on the back of a flatbed truck in Pune. Considering that the truck also bears BMW decals suggests that X7 petrol was being trucked to the ARAI facility for homologation tests.
BMW has already stated that the X7 will be assembled here in India when it arrives in the sub continent later on in 2019. The SUV slotted onto the back of the flatbed truck was X7 xDrive40i, which is the base petrol variant of BMW's new flagship utility vehicle. The BMW X7 xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is quite similar to the one found under the bonnet of the new Toyota Supra sports car and the BMW Z4 roadster.
Under the bonnet of BMW's largest SUV the engine pushes out 335bhp at 5,500-6,500rpm and 450Nm of torque at 1,500-5,200rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive. This is enough to push the over 2.3-tonne SUV from 0-100km/h in just 6.1 seconds. BMW offers the petrol version of the X& with a more potent 4.4-litre twin turbo engine in thexDrive50i. This powerhouse of an engine cranks out 456bhp and 650Nm of torque and pushes the SUV from 0-100 in 5.4 seconds.
India is also expected to get the base diesel version of the X7 which is the xDrive30d. The BMW X7 xDrive30d is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine that crnaks out 261bhp at 5,500-6,500rpm and 620Nm of torque at 2,000-2,500rpm. The engine is paired to the same 8-speed automatic as the petrol variants which sends power to all four wheels. The xDrive 30d sprints from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds.
A more potent version of the engine with four turbochargers powers the M50d version. In its quad turbo guise, the engine cranks out 394bhp and 760Nm of torque. This is enought to ensiure that the x50d variant is as quick as the petrol xDrive50i in the sprint to 100km/h.
When it arrives in India, prices for the BMW X7 are expected to start at around Rs 1.2 crore.
