Aston Martin Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage Twins By R Reforged Will Leave You Drooling

R Reforged, the production car arm of AF Racing AG, who run the R-Motorsport Vantage DTM cars for Aston Martin have revealed the Vantage V12 Heritage Twins. The new Vantage V12 Heritage Twins celebrate Zagato's 100th anniversary and will be limited to just 19 sets of coupes and roadsters (38 in total).

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato was revealed way back in 2011 at the prestigiouos Villa d'Este Concours, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4 GT Zagato. Production numbers at that time were limited to just 150 units. The new Heritage Twins will form a new limited run version of the cars limited to just 19 pairs each. Unlike the previous V12 Zagato which was only offered in coupe guise, the new Heritage Twins by R Reforged will be offered in sets with one cope and one speedster model on offer to the lucky 19 owners.

In terms of design the car remains unchanged except for the loss of the spoiler at the back and the addition of the new speedster model. Both the coupe and the speedster feature classic Zagato touches including the curvier body with the Z's in the grille. Other highlights from the old car remain including the pod-like tail lights, short body overhangs and the double bubble roof for the coupe. The brand new speedster carries on that double-bubble style design for the rear decklid, and looks extremely enticing.

Like the old V12 Zagato, the new new Heritage twins are based on the previous generation of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage sports car and not the current car that is powered by an AMG twin-turbo V8 engine.

While R Reforged have not revealed any details about the powertrain, we expect the new Heritage twins to retain Aston Martin's old 5.9-litre V12 engine, which was known for its sonorous soundtrack. The naturally aspirated V12 engine produced 510bhp at 6,500rpm and 570Nm of peak torque at 5,750rpm, all of which was sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. This allowed the V12 Zagato to sprint from 0–100km/h in just 4.2 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 305km/h.
