Aston Martin To Reveal DBX SUV Prototype At Goodwood Festival Of Speed — New King Of The Hill?

Aston Martin seems to be pulling off a Bentley and Lamborghini. The British auto maker has not been in the limelight of late but has been slowly changing it's strategy to become more profitable. Low volume manufacturers usually build special edition models that are expensive. An approach they rather not choose is increasing sales volumes by diluting the brand.

Bentley and Lamborghini have employed both approaches in the past, and Aston Martin seems to be catching up. Aston Martin launched the Vulcan and the Valkyrie and then announced that they were building an SUV.

Andy Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, Aston Martin, said, "I purposefully restrained production to 5,000 units - for exactly that reason. There's always a tendency when you've got an order book to turn everything up. And when you do that, you start making mistakes in my experience."

His statement puts to rest rumors claiming that the DBX was a way that Aston Martin was making an entry in to the highly lucrative SUV segment. However, it also states that the company will restrict numbers to keep the car exclusive. This also means the car will be expensive.

The Aston Martin DBX is expected to be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that is scheduled this week. This is not the first time we've seem the car. Every one got a glimpse of the SUV at the Welsh rally in November 2018.

The company's Chief Engineer Matt Becker will drive the prototype up the Goodwood hill climb course giving fans the chance to listen to what the engine sounds like. Aston Martin has plans to showcase other cars as well, including the Aston Martin Vantage AMR, the 715bhp DBS Superleggera Volante GT, and Aston Martin's all electric Radipde E.

Thoughts About The Witnessing Aston Martin's First SUV In Action

This makes a lot of Aston Martin fans happy. Noticing one of these cars is a rare thing in the country and at the very least we will see the SUV in action at a hill climb event. There is no information about the SUV making it's way to the Indian market, and dealers in the country say they have no information about the vehicle.
