Apollo Apterra AT2 All-Terrain Tyres Launched In India: Details & Specs
Apollo Tyres today introduced new all-terrain SUV tyres, called Apterra AT2 for the Off-road enthusiasts. The new Apollo Apterra AT2, will join the company's existing line-up of Apterra range.
Apollo has launched the new all-terrain tyre in the market, keeping the focus on rising SUV sales. The company has launched the new tyres in 8 different sizes, in phase one. Another six sizes of the new Apterra At tyres will be launched as a part of their phase two plan.
The Apterra AT2 will be produced at the company's Vadodara unit in Gujarat alongside other tyres in the Apterra's range. The list includes, specialised Highway Luxury (HL), Highway Terrain (HT), High Performance (HP) and the All Terrain (AT) tyres for the SUVs.
The Apterra AT2 tyres are jointly designed and developed by Apollo's Netherlands and in Chennai research and development centers. The tyres has been thoroughly tested in different geographies to make for an unmatched on and off-road grip.
Apterra AT2 tyres are equipped to handle obstacles both on-road and off-road terrains. The new all-terrain tyre features a patented tread design with SAW-Tooth technology for superior grip on the roads. It also features high tensile steel belts to take on impacts and make the tyre durable.
The Apterra AT2's unique groove design of the tyre, will ensure water drainage on wet roads, and provide better control during off-roading. The wider tread width provides stability during cornering. The Apterra AT2 tyres comply with global regulations for NVH level, making for low road noise.
The demand for all-terrain tyres are increasing with almost 15,000 units sold in a month. The company plans to capture that market aggressively launching new tyres catering to all vehicles in the segment.
The new tyres will be available for different SUVs available in the market. The list includes, the Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mahindra Scorpio, XUV 500, Tata Hexa, Isuzu MU7, V Cross and others. The company claims, after the addition of 6 sizes in phase two, it will cover 90% of the all-terrain vehicle market.
Commenting on the launch, Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA), Apollo Tyres Ltd, commented about the company's plans on focusing more towards the SUV segment in India. With the growing buyers in the SUV segment, the company will cater to all types of buyers, with its diverse line-up of specialized tyres.
Apollo claims to set a new benchmark in all-terrain tyres segment, with extensive global tests and excellent test results. This would help the company to boost confidence and become leaders in all-terrain tyre segment.

The SUV segment has seen a drastic increase in the number of buyers. The SUV is used for all types of activities, right from daily city commute to hard-core off roading. Apollo is looking to cater to all types of buyers with the different use of tyres. An all-terrain tyre is a welcome addition to buyer using their cars for maximum on-road use with light off-road occasionally.
