2020 Renault Duster Facelift Spotted Testing Sans Camouflage — Most Detailed Images Yet

The 2020 Renault Duster facelift has been spotted testing in India. This is the first time that the SUV has been spotted testing sans any camouflage and this gives us a clear look at the design and styling aspects.

The 2020 Renault Duster facelift was spotted testing on multiple occasions and we did manage to dig out a few details of it. Now though, we have a clear look thanks to pictures posted on Team Duster India.

The Renault Duster is the SUV that pioneered the compact SUV segment in India. The Renault Duster was launched in 2012 and it is the vehicle that single-handedly made Renault successful in the Indian market. It is because of the Renault Duster that Renault India is where it is today.

However, as time passed by, newer cars started flooding the compact SUV space and the new competition sidelined the Renault Duster. Sales numbers dropped and Renaut is now attempting to revive the sales of the Duster by launching this facelift.

The overall dimensions of the SUV remain unchanged and so does the outline. To the untrained eye, it would look just like the current-gen Renault Duster and that is because the upcoming facelift is actually based on the current-gen Renault Duster.

However, it does take a few styling cues from the second-generation Renault Duster on sale in the European market. Right up front, it features new headlamp units. They are similar to the current-gen model in shape, but are actually different as it now comes with projector units and LED DRLs as well.

It also features a new three-slat grille with chrome detailing and a large Renault badge at the centre. The front bumper also gets a brand new design, new fog lamp housings with chrome elements and circular fog lamps.

At the sides, it features new dual-tone alloy wheels, it gets new roof rails and it even comes with turn signal indicators integrated into the ORVMs. At the rear is a new dual-tone bumper with silver elements, and black-coloured plastic cladding connecting the tail lamps on both sides.

The Renault Duster Facelift will be powered by BS-VI emissions norms compliant 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is the same unit that currently powers the top-spec Renault Duster.

It will be reworked for BS-VI compliance and will produce a max power output of 108bhp and a peak torque output of 245Nm. It will come mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine will put out 105bhp and 142Nm while transmission duties will be handled by either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The 85PS variant of the 1.5-litre diesel engine that is currently on sale in India is expected to be discontinued thanks to the upcoming BS-VI emissions norms.

Thoughts On 2020 Renault Duster Facelift Spotted Without Camouflage

The Renault Duster that is currently on sale in India is a little too old to stand against competition. By offering a facelift, Renault might delay the ageing process by a bit, but that doesn't in any way make the Duster younger or more desirable. It just might stabilise sales.

Renault should have ideally launched the second-gen model that is currently on sale in Europe. Now, we will have to wait a longer time for that to happen.
