Volvo XC40 Euro NCAP Crash Test Results Revealed
Swedish automaker Volvo recently launched the XC40 small SUV in the Indian market. Now, Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) has released the crash test results of the XC40 compact SUV. The Volvo XC40 scored an impressive five-star rating in the latest crash tests.
The Volvo XC40 scored 97 percent in the adult occupant protection and with this rating, the compact SUV joins its bigger siblings, the 60 and 90 series to become one of the safest cars on the market. The XC40 also scored commendable scores in the other aspects of the crash test.
The Volvo XC40 scored 87 percent in the child occupant protection, 71 percent in vulnerable road users protection and 76 percent in the safety assist system. Previously in 2017, the Volvo S90 and V90 scored an impressive 95 percent in the adult occupant protection and 93 percent in the safety assist system.
The safety features of the India-spec Volvo XC40 includes eight airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, hill descent control, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, pilot assist and emergency braking. The safety features of the compact SUV also played a vital role in achieving a five-star rating.
The India-spec Volvo XC40 draws power from a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 190bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to an 8-speed gearbox delivering power to all the four wheels. The compact SUV also comes with a plethora of comfort features to keep the passengers comfortable.
Head of Volvo Cars Safety Centre, Malin Ekholm said, "The new XC40 is one of the safest cars on the market. It comes standard with the largest offering of safety technology of any small SUVs, helping drivers detect and avoid collisions, remain safely in their lane and reduce the impact of accidentally running off the road."
