Engine Specification, Gearbox & Mileage
Unlike the Honda City that also get a diesel engine option, the Toyota Yaris will only be offered in petrol guise.
Toyota's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder, petrol engine power is lower compared to Honda's 1.5-litre petrol engine.
While the Yaris' petrol engine produces 107bhp and 140Nm of torque, the City petrol unit develops 118bhp and 145Nm of torque.
Toyota is offering the option of either a 6-speed manual or 7-step CVT automatic gearbox, while Honda offers a 5-speed manual or a 7-step automatic gearbox.
When compared to the Honda City petrol engine, the Yaris' 6-speed manual gearbox should help achieve better mileage while travelling long distances.

Verdict
The Toyota Yaris might not be the best looking compared to the Honda City. That said, the Yaris offers excellent levels of comfort and safety.
Along with Toyota's penchant for quality, reliability and durability, the Toyota Yaris slightly edges out the Honda City on paper.
The Honda City offers all round performance; however, the sedan is quite expensive compared to its rivals in the market.
