Toyota Innova Crysta And Fortuner Recalled Over Faulty Fuel Hose Connection
Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner recalled over faulty fuel hose connections. The company has recalled over 2000 units of both the models produced before 22nd March 2018.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has recalled 2,628 units of their Innova Crysta and Fortuner offerings in India. The recall of both models is due to a faulty fuel hose connection.
All Toyota Innova Crysta models manufactured between 16th July 2016 and 22nd March 2018 have been recalled. Similarly, all Fortuner models produced between 6th October 2016 and 22nd March 2018 have also been recalled.
According to the statement by SIAM, "Fuel return hose has been wrongly connected to canister hose. This will result in fuel leakage from Canister whenever fuel tank is completely filled."
The statement by Toyota Kirloskar Motors also stated that the recall will affect only the petrol variants of both their offerings.
Toyota recently announced a sales growth of 23 percent for the first half of 2018 (Jan - June). The company sold 13,088 units domestically in June 2018. The Innova Crysta alone registered a growth of 43 percent during June 2018.
The Toyota Innova Crysta is among the most popular MPVs in the Indian market. The MPV averages 8,000 units of sales every month, despite being priced at a premium.
Both, the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner are powered by the same 2,694cc, in-line four-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 163bhp and 245Nm of torque. Transmission choices on the both models include either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
Both models also come with the option of a 170bhp diesel engine. While the Innova gets an additional option, in the form of a smaller 150bhp diesel engine as well.
Thoughts On The Toyota Innova & Fortuner Recall
The Toyota Innova Crysta and the Fortuner offerings in India come with a starting price of Rs 14.34 lakh and Rs 26.69 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
This recall might affect just a few of the Toyota customers, as most of the buyer prefer the diesel variants of both the Innova and the Fortuner in India. Toyota dealers will inform owners of the affected vehicles soon.
