Tata Nexon Global NCAP Crash Test Results Revealed — Gets Four-Star Safety Rating
The Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) has revealed the crash test results for the Tata Nexon SUV. The Tata Nexon has scored an impressive four-star rating in the latest crash tests. The crash tests were conducted on the made-in-India Nexon SUV.
In the adult occupant protection category, the Tata Nexon scored a four-star rating while the child occupant protection rating stands at three stars. The overall body shell of the Nexon has been rated as stable. A rigid body is one of the key aspects of the safety of a car as it absorbs the initial impact.
The Tata Nexon went through a frontal offset crash test conducted at a speed of 64km/h. The Global NCAP stated that the head and neck protection for the driver and passenger is good while the chest protection is adequate. Overall, the Nexon performed really well in the crash tests.
In the deformable barrier crash test conducted at 64km/h, the Nexon's stable and rigid body structure was appreciated. The Nexon also offers good protection for an 18-month-old child with the rearward installed CRS. The front-facing ISOFIX child seat offers good head protection and limited chest protection.
The Tata Nexon is equipped with standard safety features such as driver and passenger airbag, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt pre-tensioners and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). All the safety features played a vital role in scoring an impressive four-star rating and the body structure is also rigid and stable.
The Secretary-General of Global NCAP, David Ward said, "The 4 stars awarded to the Tata Nexon represent a very strong result from a major Indian car manufacturer. This impressive safety performance is comfortably above the new crash test standards applied in India to new models since October 2017."
