Update: Tata Harrier Unofficial Bookings Begin — To Be Launched In 2019
Tata Motors is all set to launch the Harrier SUV in the Indian market in the first half of 2019. The Tata Harrier has been spotted several times on Indian roads and the testing has been going on for quite some time. The Tata Harrier is said to be a game-changing product in the SUV segment.
Now, RushLane reports that some Tata Motors dealers are accepting bookings for the Harrier SUV. The Tata Harrier can be booked by making an advanced payment of Rs 50,000. The report also states that the amount is refundable if you decide to cancel the booking.
With the massive hype created ahead of the launch, we expect the Tata Harrier to have a long waiting period. So, few customers have decided to go ahead and book the SUV ahead of the official bookings.
In reply to this development, a spokesperson from Tata Motors said, "There is a lot of excitement for the Tata Harrier. We have learnt of this incident. The dealer was compelled to take the booking due to the customer insisting on the same, to be among the first owners of the Tata Harrier."
The spokesperson also added, "We thank our customers for their trust in the brand and we wish to assure them that the Tata Harrier will arrive in India, early in 2019. TML will publicise widely when we officially open bookings for the Harrier. The Company has directed the dealer to refund the entire amount to the customer as the official booking for the Tata Harrier has not yet commenced."
The Tata Harrier will be the first product to feature the new Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The SUV will be based on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGARC) platform which also underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The Tata Harrier is expected to draw power from a 2-litre diesel engine that produces 140bhp and 320Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Tata Harrier will be offered in a five-seater or seven-seater configurations.
The interior of the Tata Harrier will be premium and upmarket and will be equipped with a host features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leather seat upholstery and much more. The Tata Harrier will be the most expensive product from Tata Motors.
Apart from the Tata Harrier SUV, Tata Motors will also launch a new premium hatchback based on the 45X concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. We have already spotted the Tata 45X hatchback which was finished in the orange paint scheme.

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of Harrier SUV which is likely to hit the Indian roads in January 2019.
