Tata Motors will launch the new Harrier soon and we expect it to be a serious rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV 500 and the Jeep Compass. It is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine which makes 138bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual.
That said, here are some of itstop features (subject to change in other variants of the Tata Harrier) that you should definitely check out!
Land Rover Platform (OMEGA)
The Tata Harrier is based on an entirely new platform — OMEGA — derived from Land Rover's D8 Architecture; the same which underpins the Discovery Sport. In fact, the new Harrier is dimensionally similar to the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Tata Motors claims that the new platform gives the Harrier good dynamics for its size and nature.
'Floating' Infotainment Display
The 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system inside the Tata Harrier features a sharp resolution and opens way to a lot of functionalities. The rather interesting ‘floating design' and the black-layout makes the system look modern and clean. The system is backed up by JBL Acoustics (nine speakers, four tweeters, one subwoofer) with an amplifier.
On lower variants, the Tata Harrier comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen unit.
Terrain Response Drive Modes
The new Tata Harrier shows its off-roading capability in the form of the Terrain Response drive modes: Normal, Rough and Wet. The feature was highlighted in an official Tata Harrier teaser video, a few weeks back. Terrain Response promises that the Tata Harrier won't be intimidated by most terrain conditions (However, the absence of a four-wheel-drive system is a letdown and the Tata Harrier is a front-wheel-drive SUV).
Enough Safety Features
The Tata Harrier also comes with some of the best safety features on demand. Starting with the six airbags on the top-end variant, the Tata Harrier gets ABS+EBD, Corner Stability Control, Roll-Over Mitigation, ISOFIX child seat mounts, parking aids (sensors and camera) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
Host Of Driving Aids
In addition to the above-mentioned safety features, the Tata Harrier is equipped with a host of driving aids including Terrain Response. Features such as Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Electronic Traction Control, Electronic Stability Program and cruise control make the Harrier return an effortless driving experience.
Impact Design 2.0
One of the main highlights of the Tata Harrier is, of course, its design language. The latest Impact 2.0 design philosophy brings out some fine aesthetic details out of the car. Compared to the initial H5X concept, the Tata Harrier does look a lot similar, if not completely identical.
Other Top Features Of The Tata Harrier
As you can see, the new Tata Harrier comes with a lot; some being even segment-first features. Here are some of the other top features on offer:
- Leather upholstery
- Puddle lamps
- 60:40 split-folding rear seats
- 7.0-inch TFT display on the instrument console
- HID projector headlamps
- Automatic headlamps and wipers
- Electrically-adjustable driver seat
- Powered ORVMs
Thoughts On The Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier is one of the most-awaited SUVs in India as of now. It can be regarded as the first and true global product from the legendary Indian brand, and the amount of anticipation for it is immense. Do you think the new Harrier will make a serious impact on the five-seater SUV market?
