Suzuki Ertiga Sport Concept Unveiled At GIIAS 2018: Will It Launch In India?

Suzuki has unveiled the all-new Ertiga Sport Concept MPV, at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2018. The new Sport Concept is based on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. The Suzuki Ertiga Sport Concept variant features a number of upgrades both on the exterior and interior.
The Sport Concept edition of the upcoming Ertiga MPV comes with multiple cosmetic updates. These updates include smoked headlamps with LED DRL, 16-inch alloy wheels and a blackened grille.
The Ertiga Sport Concept also features a distinctive body kit, with a roof integrated spoiler. The Sport Concept also comes with reduced ground clearance and a tweaked suspension for added performance.
Other features on the all-new Ertiga also include certain chrome accents on the exteriors and electrically-adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn signals.
The Sport Concept edition is based on the top-end variant of the latest-generation Ertiga MPV, already on sale in Indonesia. The sport version, though, comes with just cosmetic updates, while remaining unchanged mechanically.
The latest-generation MPV is powered by the new 1.5-litrefour-cylinder petrol engine with SHVS mild-hybrid technology. This is capable of producing a maximum of 103bhp and 138Nm of peak torque. The engine is further mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
This new 1.5-litre engine will make its way to India. However, the engine will first debut on the upcoming Ciaz sedan, expected to launch in India on the 20th August. The 2018 Maruti Ertiga, on the other hand, will be introduced into the Indian market at a later stage, during the festive season.
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is based on the new HEARTECT platform. This new platform makes the new MPV wider and more spacious, compared to the outgoing model. Both the interior and exterior of the new Ertiga MPV is expected to be revamped, offering a completely new design and styling.
The interiors will also come with a host of new features and equipment, offering a more premium feel to the new seven-seater MPV.
Thoughts On The Suzuki Ertiga Sport Concept
The new 2018 Maruti Ertiga is expected to launch in India, sometime during the festive season this year. Prices for the new MPV are yet to be revealed, however, we can expect it to be in the range of Rs 6.5 to 7 lakh, ex-showroom.
