Auto Expo 2018: Renault Zoe E-Sport Concept Showcased. The Renault Zoe E-Sport is a racy two-seater version of Renault's Zoe electric city car which the carmaker intends to bring to India in the future. The Renault Zoe E-Sport was revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and pays homage to Renault's Formula E racing team while showing the world what an all-electric hot hatchback could be like in the future..
The all-wheel-drive Renault Zoe E-Sport features a blue paint job that honours the Renault e.dams Formula E team and underneath its widebody kit sits tech borrowed straight from the single-seater electric racing series that will make hot hatch fans jump with joy.
Powering the Renault Zoe E-Sport concept are a set of motors thatcrank out a total of 456bhp and 640Nm of torque which is sent to all four wheels. The Renault Zoe E-Sport weighs in at nearly 1.4-tonnes despite being made from carbon fibre and using a steel roll cage that incorporates Kevlar panels. 10 seconds, which is properly bonkers.
Despite its girth the Zoe E-Sport sprints to 100kph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds and reaches its top speed of 209kph in under 10 seconds which is properly bonkers. Providing the power to the duo of electric motors in the mad Zoe is a 40kWh battery pack.
The Renault Zoe E-Sport sits on a bespoke chassis built by Tork Engineering. Also unique are the 'double triangle' front and rear suspension setups that feature four-way adjustable shock absorbers from Ohlins. The Zoe E-Sport sits on 20-inch alloy wheels.
To ensure that the battery pack and the rest of the electronics are in prime operating condition at all times, the Renault Zoe E-Sport also features water and air cooling.
Regarding design, the Renault Zoe E-Sport looks like a regular Zoe that has returned from bodybuilding camp as from every angle it looks like an exaggerated and more muscular version of the regular ZOE. The front and rear bumpers are both more aggressive and feature more aero elements including a rather large diffuser element at the rear.
The interiors are more frugal with Recaro bucket seats with racing harnesses along with a rectangular steering wheel. The square display gives details about which of the five driving modes you are on and can be used to switch between modes as well. The interior is draped in Alcantaraand there are numerous switches vents as well.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On The Renault Zoe E-Sport Concept
The Renault Zoe E-Sport takes the rather boring Zoe electric car for the city and turns it into an electric racer that borrows tech from its maker's racing setup to scare the bejeezus out of anyone who gets behind the wheel for fun. If this is the future of hot hatches, you can count us in, Renault.
