Renault Kwid MPV’s (RBC) Interiors Seem To Feature Quite A Lot

The new Renault Kwid-based MPV's spy pics have been leaked once again, and this time, we can see its interiors. Codenamed as 'RBC', the sub-four-metre MPV is still under testing and for the same reason, it has not left its camouflaged avatar.

The interior images of the Renault Kwid MPV aka RBC, shared by TeamBHP, reveal a dual-tone dashboard and touchscreen infotainment system (something of a norm in all modern cars). There are also some silver elements that run across the cabin.

The three-spoke steering wheel, subtle chrome inserts and the entirely-new dashboard layout look good overall. This Renault RBC test mule also seems to have powered ORVMs and even side airbags; probably since it might a top variant. Prior to this, there were multiple spottings of the vehicle across the country — check out some other images of the Renault RBC MPV.

Other observations from the Renault RBC's interiors are the split-glovebox and dual-tone fabric seats (with fixed headrests). Most of the other details are hidden away by the camouflage.

The new Renault Kwid MPV aka RBC will be the second seven-seater product from the French company in India, as they already sell the Lodgy. It is based on an improved version of the Renault Kwid's CMF-A platform — CMF-A+. This gives it more size, as well as a longer wheelbase.

Reports suggest that the Renault RBC's engine will be the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as on the Kwid, but turbocharged; reason being that the existing engine format lacks enough punch to propel a vehicle that size. The proven 1.5-litre diesel engine found on a range of Nissan-Renault products could also be on offer.

At this point, there is no news about the pricing. But, if the Renault Kwid-based MPV does come with the above-mentioned engine formats, prices could ideally be in the range of Rs 7 – 11 lakh ex-showroom. Expect its launch to happen in the second quarter of 2019.

Thoughts On The Renault Kwid MPV aka RBC

The MPV market is slowly becoming more competitive with the new entrants: Datsun GO+, 2018 Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo; in a wide price range. The Renault RBC will compete in the lower price bracket and we expect it to perform well on the market. What do you think?
