Volkswagen Introduces New Add-On Warranty In India; To Cover 7 Years Or 1,25,000Km
Volkswagen has introduced an add-on warranty programme for four of its models in India. The new warranty is for a period of seven-years or 1,25,000km, whichever comes earlier.
Volkswagen has a new extended warranty scheme for its customers in India. The new warranty scheme will be available for a period of seven years or 1,25,000km, whichever comes earlier.
The new warranty program is available for a select range of Volkswagen models in the Indian line-up. This includes the new Polo, Vento, Tiguan and the Passat. However, the warranty is subject to two main conditions: odometer should not be above the 1,25,000km and the vehicle should be within seven years, from the date of sale.
Apart from the seven-year warranty period, Volkswagen will also offer an additional one-year or 20,000km warranty to all its customers. This additional warranty can only be claimed either a month before the seven-year period expires or 15 days after its expiry.
The new seven-year warranty covers a wide range of components. Some of the components include parts of the engine, gearbox (both manual and DSG), suspension, steering, braking etc. The warranty also covers all of the electricals and oil seals as well.
Customers who plan to sell their vehicles during the period can transfer their vehicle warranty onto the new owners of the car. However, a single warranty cannot be transferred between two vehicles.
The new seven-year warranty is exclusively for owners of the Polo, Vento, Tiguan and the Passat. However, all vehicles will have to pass through a series of requirements to qualify for the seven-year warranty.
The vehicle must have undergone on-time scheduled service at authorised service centres and/or must have been handled only by authorised personnel. The new warranty scheme will not be available for any taxis or other vehicles which are commercially registered.
Thoughts On Volkswagen India's Extended Seven-Year Warranty
Volkswagen's new seven-year warranty scheme is in-line with many global brands offering similar schemes, both in India and global markets. These extended warranty schemes are also offered by some competitors such as Honda and Toyota in India.
Customers opting for the new seven-year extended warranty should keep in mind that any aftermarket parts or components installed in the car. Any such components will immediately nullify the warranty.
