New Renault Crossover SUV Teased — To Debut At 2018 Moscow International Motor Show
French automaker Renault has revealed the teaser image of its upcoming crossover SUV. The name of the new crossover SUV is not yet revealed and the new model will make its global debut at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show in August.
The new Renault crossover SUV will be closely related to the Captur crossover sold in emerging markets such as India. The new SUV will be based on the M0 platform which also underpins the Captur and Duster. The new crossover SUV is likely to measure just above four-meter similar to the Captur.
The teaser image reveals the front fascia of the new crossover SUV. The front fascia of the unnamed Renault SUV features sleek headlamps with LED DRLs, a grille similar to the Captur and aggressively designed bumper. The overall design is premium, and it looks similar to the premium products such as Megane.
Russia will be the first market to get the new crossover SUV from Renault. Initially, the new SUV model will be manufactured at Renault's Moscow plant. Renault will also introduce the new SUV in other emerging left-hand-drive markets.
In markets such as China, Renault is expected to introduce the crossover SUV based on the CMF-B platform. We expect Renault to slot the new crossover SUV as a premium alternative to the Captur. The new SUV might be also sold under the Dacia brand similar to the Duster.
Renault might borrow the interior elements from the Captur to keep the costs down. Renault's new crossover SUV is unlikely to hit the Indian shores anytime soon as the Captur crossover has not been a hit in the Indian market. But with the utility vehicle segment booming, Renault might give a thought about introducing the new SUV in the country.
Thoughts On The New Renault Crossover SUV
Renault has teased a new crossover SUV which will be a premium product for the French automaker. Expect the new crossover SUV to be similar to the Captur in many aspects. But the overall exterior design will be more premium than the Captur. It will be too early to comment on the India launch of the new SUV. The new SUV will be revealed at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show.
