New 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR Spied Testing In India Ahead Of Launch

The 2018 WagonR retains the same tallboy design from its previous generations, yet receiving a number of upgrades and a facelift to its design. The new updates will include chassis upgrades for additional structural rigidity and mechanical upgrades in the form of a new BS-VI compliant engine in the future.

The new Maruti Suzuki WagonR will receive the similar light-friendly cabin with large windows as seen in the older generations, although the rear windscreen on the new-gen appears to be smaller than on the current version. Also, the taillamps on the new WagonR now seem to flank the rear windscreen on either sides.

The front fascia of the 2018 WagonR, though not seen as of yet, will also receive major upgrades in terms of its overall design. However, it will retain the small bonnet and an almost upright A-pillar as seen on all previous generations of the tallboy hatchback.

The new WagonR will carry on the same engine option as on the current generation at the time of its debut. This will be the K-Series, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine from Maruti Suzuki, which produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. The engine is mated either to a five-speed manual transmission or the optional automatic AMT gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed the launch of the seven-seater WagonR for the Indian market. The seven-seater version of the hatchback has been spotted in India on a number of occasions and is expected to launch sometime by the end of 2018.
