Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Swift in India at the Auto Expo 2018. The prices for the new Maruti Swift start at Rs 4.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 8.29 lakh for the top-spec model. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). The 2018 Maruti Swift sports a new exterior and interior design with several premium features. So, what is 'new' in the 2018 Maruti Swift? Let's find out in this first look review of the new Swift model.
New Maruti Swift Design
The new Maruti Swift features an all-new design language which gives the hatchback an all-new look. The front fascia of the new 2018 Swift sports a new hexagonal grille with horizontal black slats, new headlamps with projector lights and integrated LED DRLs and revamped bumper with circular fog lamps.

New Maruti Swift Engine Details
The new third-gen Maruti Swift continues to draw power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, and the diesel engine is good for 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines are available with the 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT gearbox.
New Maruti Swift Interior
The interior of the new Maruti Swift gets an all-black theme with a redesigned dashboard layout, similar to the new Dzire. The interior also features a new flat-bottom steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, circular AC vents and control dials below the centre console, which are also circular. Overall, the interior looks upmarket as compared to the second-gen Swift.
New Maruti Swift Features
The new Maruti Swift comes loaded with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirroLink. Other prominent features include engine Start/Stop button, keyless entry with smart key, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
The safety features of the new Swift include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist and IsoFix child seat mounts as standard across the range. The top-spec variants of the new Swift also come with reverse parking camera and sensors, day and night adjustable IRVM and speed-sensitive automatic door lock.
New Maruti Swift Rivals
The new 2018 Maruti Swift has become even more appealing with the new design, interior and features. The Maruti Swift rivals the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. But with the popularity of the Swift in India and the upmarket design and features, the new Maruti Swift has the upper hand over its rivals.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On The New Maruti Swift
The new Maruti Swift is a huge leap from the second-gen Swift in terms of design and features. Despite getting a significant makeover, the new 2018 Swift retains its original Swift silhouette. The new front and rear fascia have made the best-selling hatchback even more appealing and with the aggressive price tag, the new Swift is expected to replicate the success of the previous-gen model.
