New Hyundai Tucson 2018 Unveiled — Will We See An India Launch Soon?
The new Hyundai Tucson was recently unveiled at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The facelift version of the Hyundai SUV receives a refreshed design, new interiors and engines.
The new facelift version of the Hyundai Tucson has been unveiled at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The 2018 version of the SUV receives a refreshed design, new interiors and engine options.
Exterior updates on the new Tucson include four chrome slats in a cascading front grille with full LED headlights on either side, the headlights also feature L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), new bumper with revised fog-lamp pods and an updated skid plate.
The rear of the SUV also features a new bumper with updated tail lights. The SUV now sits on new re-designed alloy wheels.
Interiors on the 2018 Tucson come with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and Navigation system with 3D maps. It also receives a revised dual-tone dashboard design and silver trims around the air-conditioning vents.
Globally, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson gets engines with both petrol and diesel fuel options. The diesel options on the Tucson include a 2-litre diesel engine producing 185bhp with a four-wheel drive system, paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Another 1.6-litre diesel engine is also available in two states of tune: 114bhp and 132bhp both getting a six-speed manual with front-wheel drive as standard. The higher tuned trim of the two (132bhp option) gets the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch (DCT) gearbox as well as the four-wheel drive system.
The petrol variants come with a 1.6-litre engine producing either 131bhp or 176bhp. The 131bhp trim gets a six-speed manual and four-wheel drive as standard, while the 176bhp trim gets either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT along with the option of a four-wheel drive system.
The new Tucson gets a list of safety and driving features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning. Additional features include Hyundai's Surround View Monitor, HighBeam Assist, Rain-Sensing Wipers and an Advanced Smart Cruise Control.
Thoughts On The New Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai has not revealed whether or not the facelift Tucson will enter India. If it does, it will take on competition from rivals such as the Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Jeep Compass, while being priced in a similar range.
