New Ford Figo CNG Variant Spotted Testing In India — Launch To Happen Soon?
The Ford Figo has been one of the most dominant cars in the hatchback segment, for quite some time now. Being a Ford, the Figo has been engineered from the ground up to be a driver's car. The sportier Figo Sports Edition aka the Figo S further proves it.
Ford India has also launched their Figo-based crossover recently – the Freestyle – a fun-to-drive car, in typical Ford fashion.
Now, TeamBHP has managed to spot the new Ford Figo facelift in India, in a CNG avatar. The current Ford Figo comes only in 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel formats and does not have a CNG variant. However, the new spotting hints that Ford India will be introducing CNG-powered Figo models in the near future.
The new Ford Figo facelift was globally unveiled early this year and is yet to be launched in India. The hatchback is sold as the KA+ in global markets and it carries both cosmetic and mechanical updates over the current model.
The biggest highlight of the upcoming Ford Figo model is its engine – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Dragon series petrol engine; the same one powering the Ford Freestyle. The engine makes 96bhp and 120Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The new Ford Figo is also expected to have an updated automatic transmission.
As for the diesel Ford Figo, the 1.5-litre unit makes 99bhp and 215Nm of torque. The engine is a solid performer for the Figo's price and dimensions.
The new Ford Figo facelift features a chrome honeycomb grille, new bumpers and a different set of alloy wheels. The headlamps and taillamps also carry subtle changes.
The interiors will also be tweaked and feature-loaded. The new Figo is expected to come with Ford's SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If rumours are correct, the car will have new seats and upholstery too.
The Ford Figo facelift is expected to be launched during this festive season.
Thoughts On The Upcoming Ford Figo Facelift
Ford India is currently doing well in terms of sales, especially with their Figo, Freestyle and EcoSport models. The new Figo will bring some much-needed updates and give the hatchback an edge over its competition. The current Ford Figo's petrol variant feels a bit dull to drive and fans are eagerly waiting for its replacement with the 1.2-litre Dragon series unit.
