Mitsubishi Eclipse And Xpander Considered For India
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi recently launched the new Outlander SUV in India. Now, it looks like Mitsubishi is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio. Yes, CarandBike reports that Mitsubishi is considering the Eclipse and the Xpander for India.
Managing Director of Mitsubishi India, Uttam Bose stated that the company will focus on SUVs and is considering the Eclipse and Xpander SUVs for India in the midsize segment. Currently, Mitsubishi retails the Outlander and the Pajero Sport SUVs in the Indian market.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Xpander SUVs were globally unveiled in 2017. The Xpander is a MPV with an SUV-style and features the signature 'flowing' front grille design. The Mitsubishi Xpander is equipped with LED headlamps and tail lights, touchscreen infotainment system and 16-inch alloy wheels and much more.
The Mitsubishi Xpander draws power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103bhp. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. If launched in India, the Mitsubishi Xpander will rival the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta, upcoming Maruti Ertiga and even the soon to be launched Mahindra Marazzo.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a crossover SUV with a futuristic design language. The Eclipse is loaded with features such as a 7-inch infotainment display, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof and much more. The overall design of the Eclipse is sporty and aggressive and also gets the Signature Mitsubishi grille up front.
Powering the Mitsubishi Eclipse is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 149bhp and 249Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to an automatic gearbox with Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). The crossover SUV also gets three driving modes: Auto, Snow and Gravel. The Mitsubishi Eclipse will rival the Jeep Compass in the Indian market.
Thoughts On The Mitsubishi Eclipse And Xpander
Both the Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Xpander are midsize models in the utility vehicles segment. The Japanese automaker has decided to focus on SUVs in the Indian market. With the utility vehicle segment booming in the country, Mitsubishi is considering to bring the Eclipse and the Xpander to the Indian shores.
