Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive Live 2018 Bangalore — The Quintessential Mercedes Experience
The event witnessed the participation of the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup, showing their prowess in a carefully-set test track.
The 2018 edition of the Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive was conducted in Bangalore. The 2-day event commenced on 24th February 2018 and ended on the 25th. Customers and media got to experience what Mercedes-Benz models are capable of, from the passenger seat as well as from the driver's seat.
The 2018 Luxe Drive Live by Mercedes-Benz involved an array of carefully set tracks, wherein the attendees could experience Mercedes models of various types. In total, the event was quite entertaining with music, games and food.

The 2018 edition of the Luxe Drive Live was set up beside Nice Road Junction at the outskirts of Bangalore. The temporary layout included everything Mercedes inside including sales, merchandise and even a fun and games section.
At the Luxe Drive Live 2018, Mercedes-Benz also showcased all their models, namely the A-Class, CLA-Class, GLA, C-Class, GLC, E-Class, GLE, S-Class and the GLS. Staffs were also present by the cars, explaining all the details of various models to those who were interested.
After enjoying the Mercedes-Benz showcase, the participants were led to the tracks for the Mercedes-Benz Drive and Experience. The session included three tracks to show the capabilities of various models.
The first track included the entry-level Mercedes-Benz models such as, the A 200d, CLA 200d and the GLA 200d. The stage started off with professional drivers taking the participants round the track at a good pace along a slalom (zig-zag track) and conducting a braking test.
Next was the participants' turn, and one by one, each of them took one of the threecars around the track, while being accompanied by a professional driver. Participants also had the freedom to choose the car of their liking.
Coming to the braking test, Mercedes-Benz conducted a contest as to who brakes the closest to the finish line. One must admit that most of the participants failed the contest by a good margin due to early braking. The reason wasn't actually the low skill of the participants, but the really nice braking of a Mercedes.
The second section of the Luxe Drive Live 2018 involved the SUV lineup from Mercedes-Benz. While the smaller GLC and the mid-segmentGLE went over rubbles and bumps smoothly, the bigger GLS took the participants over an irregular path set such that only two wheels touch the ground at a time.
The intelligent 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive system of the Mercedes-Benz GLS made sure that torque reaches only the wheels in contact with the ground and doesn't go wasted on the wheels, not in contact. This enables the SUV to move forward in almost any terrain condition.
Next came the hill. The steep 45-degree ascent was an easy job for the heavy GLS 350d, and it's Hill Climb Assist feature made sure that the SUV doesn't move an inch backwards while doing so. The equally-steep descent was also not a problem for the SUV, and the Hill Descent Control made sure that the GLS got down in a set low speed.
The third section of the Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive 2018 was perhaps the best of the three. Highly-skilled drivers ‘threw' the Mercedes-Benz saloons at high speeds. While most passengers felt bit of a safety concern while doing so, we found the sideways action quite entertaining.
The idea behind this was to show the safety features of Mercedes-Benz. Professional drivers started off with the car moving at high speeds with its windows open. Then they swerved the car really hard making an artificial effect of losing control. Within a moment's notice, the Electronic Stability Program (ESC) kicked in and the car returned to a straight direction. The windows also automatically closed as a safety precaution.
With that, all the stages were complete and the attendees were led to an entertainment zone. The entertainment zone included a food court, a cookery contest and also a live band. In short, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive Bangalore allowed participants to experience Mercedes-Benz, the way it should.
Thoughts On The 2018 Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive Bangalore
The Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive showed what Mercedes models are capable of. Beyond the luxury and comfort they offer, Mercedes-Benz cars also give a dynamic driving experience. The event was really alive with music from both musical instruments and the screeching tyres.
The absence of AMG models (except for a GLA45 showcased inside the venue) was a let down for most enthusiasts present at the Luxe Drive. But Mercedes-Benz will be conducting a separate AMG-event just for the hardcore-minded. Be it regular, AMG or Maybach, all Mercedes-Benz models are truly special in their own way, and the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Luxe Drive further proved it right.
