Mercedes-Benz has unveiled their first all-electric SUV, the EQC. The Mercedes-Benz EQC rivals the likes of the Tesla Model X and the Jaguar i-Pace.

Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off their first ever all-electric SUV, the EQC. The car was unveiled in Stockholm, two years after the concept version was showcased at the Paris Motor Show.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC400 4MATIC (official full name) will go into production in Germany by 2019. Production will further spread to China and the US, eventually at a later stage. The EQC is said to go on sale in the US by 2020.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC features a very similar front-end, with a large grille and twin-slats. The grille itself is flanked on either side by the LED headlamps with LED DRL, that extends just over the front grille. The rear offers a very sleek design and features twin-LED tail lamps. These tail lamps are further joined together by a lighting strip.

The SUV comes with the EQC-badging all around the car, including the front fenders. The rear of the SUV features the EQC 400 naming, below the tail lights.

Inside, the Mercedes Benz EQC comes with the company's new MBUX infotainment system. The display consists of two 10.25-inch screens, showcasing various features. The new system offers a wide range of EQ-specific functions. This includes range display, charge status and energy modes.

The MBUX system also allows the driver to control, the driving modes, EQ-optimised navigation, charging current and departure time. The EQC also comes with natural language recognition, which allows voice control for various functions.

Apart from the MBUX system, the EQC also comes standard with heated seats, 19-inch wheels, rose gold accents and adaptive headlights. Mercedes-Benz also offers optional features such as a 64-colour ambient lighting, as well as a driver assistance package.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is the first product in an entirely new line-up of cars to be introduced under the EQ-brand. The EQC SUV comes with two motors, one for either axle. The dual-motor setup produces a combined output of 402bhp and 765Nm of peak torque, sending power to all four wheels.

The EQC comes with a top speed electronically limited to 112mph (or 180km/h). The SUV also completes a 0 - 60mph (or 0 - 100km/h) in 4.9 seconds.

When the concept for the EQC was showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the company had stated a range of 300 miles (or 482km) on a single charge. However, the production-spec unveiled comes with a range of 280 miles (or 450km) on a single charge.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC comes with 80kW, which comes with fast charging options. With the fast charge, the batteries can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 40 minutes.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC will go on sale, sometime in 2020. Although the prices for the all-electric SUV is yet to be announced, the EQC will take on rivals such as the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model X 75D. The Mercedes-Benz EQC at the time of launch will also take on the upcoming all-electric models from Audi and BMW.
