Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Launched In India; Priced At Rs 75 Lakh
Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain launched in India at Rs 75 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The E-Class All-Terrain is the latest product in a long list of offering from Mercedes-Benz in India. It is, however, the first estate offering from the German car manufacturer in the country.
The E-Class portfolio in India is now available in three different body styles: long-wheelbase (standard E-Class sedan), standard-wheelbase (E63 AMG sedan) and the Estate (All-Terrain).
The E-Class All-Terrain is already available in international markets as an off-road variant of the sedan. The All-Terrain variant is based on the E-Class SWB (Short-Wheelbase) model.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain comes with noticeably higher ground clearance and additional cosmetic elements to differentiate it from the standard model. The front can be seen with a pair of silver grille slats, while the front bumper mainly consists of a silver skid plate.
The side profile of the E-Class All-Terrain comes with black cladding on the wheel arches. The roofline comes with a slanted rear with silver rails. The All-Terrain model now rides on 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The black cladding on the wheel arches extends to the rear bumper, which houses the rear skid plate and the dual exhausts. The rear also features LED tail lamps connected through a thin chrome strip.
Although the new E-Class All-Terrain is based on the standard-wheelbase model, it is still around 116mm shorter in length and has a shorter wheelbase by 158mm. However, the large rear overhang has helped increase the car's boot space to 640-litres. With the rear seats folded, this space further extends to 1,820-litres.
Interiors on the E-Class All-Terrain is similar to the standard sedan model. The All-Terrain model even carries forward most of the features from the sedan variant. This includes the COMAND infotainment system, air suspension, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control and an electrically operated tailgate among others.
The Estate is also the first E-Class to come powered by a BS-VI compliant diesel engine. This engine comes in the form of a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit. It produces 194bhp and 400Nm of torque, mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission. The Estate variant also comes with five driving modes which includean ‘All-Terrain' and an ‘Individual' mode.
Thoughts On The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain
