Suzuki Swift Sport In India

Maruti Suzuki India, recently confirmed that the Suzuki Swift Sport will not be launched in India.

The Swift Sport, if launched in India, will be priced at around Rs 20 to 25 lakh, as it will be imported into the country as a CBU kit. With the high import duty and GST rates for CBUs in India, the hatchback would prove to be too expensive for the Indian market.

However, the company is planning on introducing the Swift RS in India. The Swift RS will come with the same 1.0-litre, 103bhp petrol engine as seen on the Baleno RS offering.

The Suzuki Swift Sport is available in a number of right-hand drive countries across the globe. However, the car will not enter the Indian market, although, India is one of the biggest markets for the Swift hatchback.

The Baleno RS failed to deliver the level of success, the company hoped the ‘RS' tag would receive in India. The Baleno RS could not offer any competition to its main rival, the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and TDI in the country.
