Electric cars are changing the way the world drives and at the forefront of the electric driving change in India is, Mahindra Electric. Mahindra Electric has had electric vehicles on sale in India for a while now, and the company has today reached a new milestone.
Mahindra Electric together with Baghirathi group flagged off a fleet of 50 Mahindra eVerito electric cars in Bangalore, Karnataka. The Baghirathi group is a shared mobility service provider based in Bangalore, which launched its brand ‘rydS' earlier today to focus on low-carbon, zero-emission, sustainable mobility solutions for all.
All this took place at Vidhana Soudha, the state assembly of the government of Karnataka, marking the beginning of the eMobility Awareness Campaign undertaken by the government of Karnataka.
Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister for Medium and Heavy Industries R.V Deshpande were present at the event and shared their vision of eMobility for Karnataka before flagging off the electric vehicles.
The vehicles that were flagged off consisted of 50 Mahindra eVerito electric cars which were the first batch delivered to the Baghirathi group. The rydS brand under which these cars will be deployed is awaiting delivery of 950 more electric cars from Mahindra Electric and these cars will be used to serve their enterprise clients.
Mahesh Babu, the CEO of Mahindra Electric who was present at the event said, "We are very happy to lead the EV movement in Karnataka and be active participants in the eMobility awareness campaign initiated by the government of Karnataka."
Mahindra Electric also announced an additional investment of Rs 400 crore in Karnataka over the next five years. This would be used to expand production capacity and to set up new EV technology innovation centers.
Alongside the 50 cars from Mahindra Electric, there were a few other electric vehicles including electric scooters, electric bikes and electric auto-rickshaws at the flag-off.
